The Townies travelled to Langford full of confidence having won two games on the spin. However despite creating a number of chances during the game and generally dominating, in the end Town were relatively happy with a draw as James Lindsay had to come on and score an 81st minute equaliser.
In the 5th minute Daniel Jones had a golden opportunity to open the scoring but only managed to head straight at keeper Scott Waters, and Chris Phillips couldn’t direct the rebound at goal.
Later in the half Karl Lewis was inches from putting a Jones cross into the back of the net. James Peters had a half-chance for Langford but fired over. Despite some good build up play the Townies couldn’t find a breakthrough before half-time.
In the second half the Townies looked to find a lead and almost achieved it when Gustavo Angel swivelled and volleyed from outside the box, only to see his shot hit the inside of the post and bounce out to safety. Lewis also came close when he headed over the bar.
However despite the Townies superiority, as is often the case in football when you don’t take your chances, it was Langford who took the lead against the run of the play in the 70th minute through Auburn from close range. This was a real kick in the teeth for the Townies who now faced the prospect of trying to rescue something from the game in the final 20 minutes or face an end to their recent good run.
Arthur Barker, Richie Dempsey and James Lindsay had all entered the game from the bench for Townies and all were having an impact. Richie Dempsey almost scored with a nequisit lob, only for Langford keeper Waters to produce a quite spectacular save. However shortly afterwards in the 81st minute Arthur Barker found James Lindsay with another brilliant through ball, and the forward took a brilliant first touch before hitting the roof of the net to equalise for the Townies.
The game finished end to end as both sides tried to gain the 3 points, but it was not to be and finished 1-1.
Hudson said “we wanted 3 points today but having gone 1-0 down the lads have done fantastic to gain another point. Having picked up 7 points in 3 games and remaining unbeaten over this period is a good return and so despite not picking up the win here confidence is still high and we are still in positive spirits. Furthermore in 2 of the last 3 games we have gone behind but shown the spirit to come back and not lose the match, which I am absolutely delighted with. We now need to focus on Broxbourne away on Saturday and look to gain another result.â€
